KAMLOOPS THERAPEUTIC RIDING ASSOCIATION
We respectfully acknowledge that our program is situated on the ancestral lands of Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc within Secwepemcúlucw.
To create opportunities for personal growth, healing, and connection through a shared experience with horses.
We are extremely excited and very fortunate to announce that KTRA has moved to Koalrock Equestrian owned by Lisa and Robert Vandriel. Koalrock Equestrian is a just under 18 acre property 8 mins past Rivershore Estate and Golf. One of the most exciting parts about this move is that Koalrock Equestrian has a covered arena so KTRA will not have to cancel lessons if the weather isn't cooperating. This also means that KTRA will be able to increase their services from two seasonal sessions per year (spring/fall) to four sessions year round!
By moving to this location, we will be able to help our therapeutic riders to increase their emotional regulation, physical capacity, sense of accomplishment, and sense of connection with others and the horses due to the opportunity of up to 10 continuous months of therapeutic riding instead of 5 interrupted months of riding. KTRA will also be able to service 18% more riders per year because of increased utilization and increased sessions over the year.

Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association (KTRA) formed in 1988, we are a non-profit charitable organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding to individuals with disabilities. Therapeutic riding has numerous positive physical effects for those who participate in our programs, using the horse as a means of influence. There are as well many mental and emotional benefits of riding including increased self-esteem, improved concentration and improvement in socialization skills. Horses elicit a wide range of emotions and behaviors in people of all ages, because they are prey animals they are supremely sensitive to body language, tone and touch. At the same time horses are large, powerful animals that follow quiet, strong leadership.
